Romantic Cottage Holidays is a family business run by Helen Massey since 2003.

If you need that special something for your stay, personal recommendations of where to eat, spa treatment recommendations, which beach you can walk your dog on  – just ask us! It’s all part of helping make your holiday special and we’ll help where we can – at no extra charge.

I don’t dress up my services or charge you extra for the privilege, I just answer your questions like a friend would, based on my personal experiences of the area. I grew up in Runswick Bay and I have stayed in all of the properties on my books – there’s not a lot I don’t know about the place!

We are happy to take changeovers for bookings on any day of the week apart from Sundays, because we believe our housekeepers work hard enough every other day of the week and Sunday is their day off. As long as you stay 3 nights or more, we’d be happy to provide a price for your holiday.

A £100 non refundable deposit secures any booking but we don’t charge booking fees and there are no hidden “add on” costs.

Your balance is due 6 weeks prior to your arrival unless its before that then the full amount is due.

Q:  Why don’t you publish your address or a land line telephone number?

A: We need our privacy too and this day in age there are too many people who are willing to take your information and use it inappropriate ways. We work from home and don’t use our personal land line. Anyone who books with us however is given our full address and details and if you’re a little unsure, just ask us, it’s not a problem.

Q: Can I stay for one night?

A: Yes you can stay for one night if you pay the 3 night rate. With an arrival time of 4pm, and departure of 10am – a one night break in a holiday cottage isn’t worth it for you or us to get the most from your stay, sorry.

Q: I have a dog but the dog friendly properties you have are full, can you make an exception for my small well behaved, non shedding dog in one of your other homes?

A: We are sorry but if a property is pet free, it has to remain pet free. We have a number of loyal guests who have allergies to pets. We need to reassure them that no animals have been in those properties. Most are also feather free and have hypo-allergenic bedding.

Q: I need my mobile telephone when I am away, will it work?

A: Unfortunately, if you are in Runswick Bay your mobile phone won’t work. Orange / EE and O2 do get signal in certain parts of the village but this is not to be relied upon. All parts of the North Yorkshire Coast have areas with poor reception.

Q: Your property says it sleeps 6 but there are 8 of us, can the extra people sleep on the sofa / bring a blow up bed?

A: Sorry but no. Our insurance only covers us for the number of people advertised in the description of each property.
